Jahre die „dritte österreichische allgemeine Industrie-Ausstellung“ in Wien und die „All gemeine deutsche Gewerbe-Ausstellung“ in Berlin; Gent und Petersburg veranstalteten im Jahre 1849 neben Paris mit seiner regelmäßig wiederkehrenden Ausstel lung ebenfalls Gewerbe-Ausstellungen ; die Leipziger Ostermesse im Jahre 1850 war mit einer Industrie-Aus stellung verbunden. Weit hinaus über den Rahmen dieser Unternehmungen schritt London mit seiner Indu strie-Ausstellung aller Völker (1851), der ersten

Welt ausstellung im neuzeitigen Sinne. Newyork erbat sich drei Jahre später ebenfalls die Teilnahme aller Völker an seiner großen Industrie-Ausstellung. Alle diese Ver anstaltungen sollte die Welt-Ausstellung in Paris in den Schatten stellen, die im Jahre 1855 die ganze Welt in der aufblühenden Hauptstadt an der Seine versammelte. Der Industriepalast, für diese Ausstellung neu erbaut, übertraf mit seiner Grundfläche von 82.500 Quadrat metern den Kristallpalast in London, der 1851 alle Län
